The Far East, weekly edition was published by an British journalist, John Newton Penlington. Although circulation was not particularly large, it kept good number of solid subscribers and advertisers, and continued for more than 10 years in the turbulent times of world history. It reported various topics such as economic news on finance, trade, exchange market and activities of major enterprises, political articles on military affairs and international relations, and cultural articles on entertainment, sports, historic spots or cultural events.
